Boston University’s Metropolitan College (MET) offers a wealth of advising services and resources for graduate, undergraduate, and non-degree students. Please see details below for how to best connect with an appropriate advisor.

Looking for your advisor? Login to your MyBU Student Portal. Your advisor(s) will be listed on the landing page Dashboard under the Advisors header. Alternately, you can find your advisors using the lefthand navigation bar: Academics, then Advisor Information.

Make an Appointment

Students can book an appointment with their academic advisor through the MyBU Student Portal. Navigate to Advising, then Appointments, then New Appointment.

Appointments are available up to 15 days in advance. If you don’t see any open times, please check back in a few days—new appointments are added regularly.

View the step-by-step guide to scheduling appointments with your academic advisor.

Email your graduate program advisor directly to book an appointment with them. Questions? Contact your academic department or program office.

Graduate Degree and Certificate Students

Every graduate student is assigned two advisors for the duration of their program:

Your Graduate Program Advisor is a faculty member in your academic department who provides academic support, advice on course selection, research opportunities, industry preparation, and more.

Your Academic Advisor is a professional staff member in your academic department to help with the logistical aspects of your studies, such as academic policy, registration processes, degree progress and graduation processing, and University compliance.

For non-academic student life issues, graduate students may contact MET’s Enrollment & Student Success office, located at 1010 Commonwealth Avenue, 1st Floor. Call 617-353-2980 or email metess@bu.edu.

If you are a graduate degree or certificate student studying online, please visit BU Virtual for more information about online study.

Undergraduate Degree and Certificate Students

MET Enrollment & Student Success assists undergraduate degree (on-campus and online) and certificate students with course selection and registration, transfer units, graduation, and interpretation of Boston University and Metropolitan College academic and administrative policies and procedures. All students enrolled in an undergraduate degree or certificate are assigned an academic advisor for the duration of their program.

Nondegree Students

One does not need to be in a degree program to take courses at MET or to take advantage of advising. If you have advising questions regarding coursework and planning involving graduate or undergraduate programs, please contact Admissions & Enrollment Services at 617-353-6000 or met@bu.edu.

Unsure who to contact? Call 617-353-2980 or email metess@bu.edu for assistance.
