About the Center for the Study of Religion and Psychology

Mission
As the research arm of the Albert and Jessie Danielsen Institute at Boston University, the mission of the Center for the Study of Religion and Psychology is to relieve human suffering and promote human growth through research in religion and psychology. This research might take many forms, such as:
- clinical outcomes research
- religious and spiritual issues in psychotherapy
- the interplay of religion and spirituality with mental health
- the study of religious and spiritual practices and experience
This mission is promoted primarily through:
- conducting empirical research studies using quantitative and qualitative methods
- training doctoral students and postdoctoral fellows in empirical research methods
- interdisciplinary dialogues and scholarly activities such as symposia and theoretical writings
- presentations and publications to professional and lay audiences
