Student Receives BU Women’s Guild Award.
The inaugural Boston University Women’s Guild (BUWG) Dr. Beverly Brown Scholarship will be awarded to doctoral candidate Michele Clark at the BUWG Annual Lunch on May 20.
The BUWG Board established the scholarship in honor of Beverly Brown, director of development for industry for School of Public Health Development and honorary president of the BUWG, for her decade of service both at BU and the BUWG.
Scholarship recipient Michele Clark’s dissertation research is on clinic-based strategies to prevent opioid overdose deaths, with a focus on community health centers in Massachusetts. She also works on multiple projects as a senior consultant at John Snow, Inc.
“The scholarship offers me inspiration and encouragement as I complete my DrPH dissertation,” Clark says. “I am particularly grateful for the BUWG’s support and recognition of women graduate students who return to school to pursue academic goals.”
Each year, the BUWG awards scholarships to women 30 years old and over who are enrolled in a University graduate program. The Dr. Beverly Brown Scholarship will be awarded annually for 10 years, from 2016 through 2026.
The BU Women’s Guild brings together faculty, staff, trustees, overseers, and friends of BU to network for career and personal development, explore the wide-ranging interests of members and the myriad offerings at BU, and to support women graduate students at the University.
