Student Commuter Benefits

Commuter Choices… Consider the Options

As BU continues investing in expanding academic and research facilities on the Charles River Campus, parking capacity will continue to decrease. Reducing drive-alone vehicle demand is an essential component of the University’s Transportation Demand Management (TDM) plan and students are encouraged not to drive alone to campus unless absolutely necessary.

The Charles River Campus is conveniently accessible by MBTA subway, bus and commuter rail, on foot or by bicycle.  Additionally, those who must drive can save on parking permit costs by commuting with others and sharing the expense.  Learn more about the commuting options available to students below.

MBTA Semester Pass

During the fall and spring semesters students have the ability to purchase four months of passes for a discounted rate of 11% per month. For more information and deadline information, please view our dedicated MBTA Semester Pass page.

Bluebikes Membership Discount

Matriculated BU students get a discounted rate on Bluebikes memberships ($60 instead of $109/year). Bluebikes (formerly Hubway) is Boston’s bike share system with 3,000 bikes at over 300 stations spread across Arlington, Boston, Brookline, Cambridge, Chelsea, Everett, Newton, Revere, Somerville, and Watertown including six stations along the Charles River Campus and one on the Medical Campus.
