Schmidt Interviewed on Divisions Among EU Membership
In a recent interview with TVNET, Vivien Schmidt, Jean Monnet Professor of European Integration and Professor of International Relations and Political Science at the Pardee School, discussed the war in Ukraine as well as the divisions among members of the European Union (EU).
TVNET‘s article, titled “Eiropas neskaidrā nākotne: cik politiski saliedēta ir savienība?” (The uncertain future of Europe: how politically united is the Union?), covers the conversation with Schmidt in which she discussed the rise of populism, the Ukraine war, the EU and the possibility of Ukraine getting a fast-tracked membership, as well as the difficulties of reaching agreement on foreign policy, in particular with the possibility of veto by any one member-state.
