Najam Interviewed on Geopolitics After COVID-19

Professor Adil Najam, Dean of the Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University and professor of international relations and earth and environment, was interviewed on May 10, 2020, by Pakistan Television (PTV) during a special on COVID-19 awareness and the likely geopolitical implications of the coronavirus crisis.

The interview focused in particular, on the war of words between China and the United States on COVID-19 causalities. Najam argued that the tension between the existing great power, the U.S., and the emerging new power, China, have been brewing for a while, but the coronavirus situation has brought it to the fore and to a boil. He suggested that we should expect this to continue in the future and become more intense because the ethos of new media and social media also pushes both sides to ever more pungent rhetoric.

Adil Najam is the Inaugural Dean of the Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University and was the former Vice Chancellor of the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS). Currently he is hosting a video expert interview series called #WorldAfterCorona for the Pardee Center for the Study of the Longer-Range Future. Read more about him here.
