Pardee Faculty Present at Research on Tap Session

Faculty members from the Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University presented at a February 12, 2018 Research on Tap session hosted by Boston University Research and the Global Development Policy (GDP) Center, an affiliated center of the Pardee School. 

Kevin Gallagher, Professor of Global Development Policy and Director of the Global Development Policy Center, hosted the event and presented his own research as well as the work being done at the GDP Center on global economic governance, including on looking at China’s economic footprint across the world.

Mahesh Karra, Assistant Professor of Global Development Policy, presented his ongoing research on health and development across Southern Africa as well as in India.

Julie Klinger, Assistant Professor of International Relations and author of Rare Earth Frontiers, presented on the challenge of linking terrestrial satellite information on forests in Brazil with ground level information gathering with indigenous people collaboration

Director of Undergraduate Studies and Associate Professor of International Relations Min Ye presented on her ongoing research on China’s ambitious ‘Belt Road Initiative’ (BRI), looking at the politics as well as the political economy of this new grand strategy from China.

Pardee School Dean Adil Najam presented on onging research led by Henrik Selin, Associate Professor of International Relations, and himself on the links between climate change and security.

The Research on Tap sessions explore how scholars across the Boston University campus are working on issues including financial stability, human well-being, and environmental sustainability. The sessions will aim at exploring how these scholars might work more closely together and amplify their work to promote global development.
