BU MET students come from all walks of life, and a degree earned here can lead you to unexpected places.
The Boston area has a new hotspot, Park-9 Dog Bar—a canine-friendly watering hole in Everett. It’s the product of a BU MET alum, Tess Kohanski (MET’17), who earned her Master of City Planning, along with her wife, Emily Gusse, and family. It’s fast become a popular landing place, having welcomed 11,000 dogs through its doors since opening in April 2022.
Founding an unconventional and innovative business—and knowing how to navigate the myriad city-specific bureaucratic challenges one faces to get started—is an example of the many different ways you can put a Master of City Planning earned at BU MET to use.
