Keith McInnes conducts research on access to and engagement in health care services for hard to reach, vulnerable populations. Current BU School of Public Health projects includes assessing the use of mobile technology to increase chronic disease self-management for persons experiencing homelessness. He has taught a course on the impact of health information technologies on health systems. In addition to his BU School of Public Health appointment, he is a Research Health Scientist in the Center for Healthcare Organization and Implementation Research (CHOIR) at the Bedford, Massachusetts VA Medical Center. He is the PI for a Department of Veterans Affairs Post-Incarceration Engagement project that is evaluating the effectiveness of peer support on physical and behavioral health outcomes for Veterans who have recently been released from incarceration. Other research interests include health informatics, homelessness, and patient self-management of chronic diseases with an emphasis on HIV and hepatitis C.
