Dino Christenson

Dino Christenson is an Associate Professor of Political Science and the Director of Advanced Programs (the Honors and BA/MA). For the 2012-15 academic years he was a Junior Faculty Fellow at the Hariri Institute for Computational Science & Engineering. In 2010 he co-founded the Research in American and Comparative Politics Workshop (RAC) and in 2016 co-chaired the first Day of BU Data Science (BUDS). He is currently a Faculty Affiliate at Hariri and sitting on the Steering Committee for the Data Science Initiative.

Christenson studies American political behavior and quantitative methods with a focus on the context in which individuals and organizations receive and react to political information. His recent work explores campaign dynamics in the early stages of presidential primary elections, the coalition behavior of interest groups, and public opinion and the media environment of institutional outcomes. More generally, his research in American politics concerns voting behavior, political psychology, political communication and public opinion.

He has broad methodological interests as well, including survey research design, longitudinal data models, Bayesian analysis, social network analysis and causal inference. His articles have appeared in American Political Science Review, American Journal of Political Science, Political Behavior, and Social Networks, among other outlets. His work has been supported by grants from the National Science Foundation, the Hariri Institute and the Dirksen Congressional Center.
