Hariri’s Research Fellow’s COVID-19 Work Featured In BU Today
Hariri Institute for Computing‘s Research and Junior Faculty Fellow, Mahesh Karra has been recently featured in BU Today. The article announces the launch of his survey focused on learning about COVID-19 and social distancing behaviors of the national population.
Mahesh Karra has partnered up with Dr. David E. Bloom, Dr. David Canning, and Rashmi Dayalu to launch the ‘COVID-19 Symptoms & Social Distancing Web Survey’ at the Program on the Global Demography of Aging (PGDA) at Harvard University.
The results from this survey will be used for academic research to help public health specialists and policymakers recommend effective measures over the coming days. The survey is for U.S. residents, 18 years or more of age. It can be completed by clicking here.
Mahesh’s research is inclined towards development economics, health economics, quantitative methods, and applied demography. His research utilizes experimental and non-experimental methods to investigate the relationships between population, health, and economic development in low- and middle-income countries. His past projects focus on improving access to family planning and mother-infant child services in countries like Malawi, India, Sri Lanka, and Tanzania. He has also worked for the Population Reference Bureau and the Futures Group International and served as a consultant to the World Bank, the World Health Organization, and the Population Council.
Mahesh Karra is an Assistant Professor of Global Development Policy at the Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University and the Associate Director of the Human Capital Initiative at the Global Development Policy Center.
