The annual BU Technology Development Ignition Awards are intended to help bridge the gap between academic research and societal impact, offering financial support and mentorship to help university researchers bring their technology to the public market. This year, one such award has been given to CipherSonic Labs, a start-up founded by Professor Ajay Joshi and BU ECE Research Scientist and graduate Rashmi Agrawal (PhD’23). Based on their ongoing research into efficient encryption methods for cloud data, they plan to develop technologies which will, in the words of their mission statement, “enable end users to take control of their data.”
