Bluebikes Travel Pattern Survey!
Hi Friends!
Do you use Bluebikes to get around town?
Will you help us study travel patterns for Bluebike Riders?

Central Transportation Planning Staff (CPTS) is working with the city of Boston, City of Cambridge, and City of Somerville to better understand who is using the Bluebikes system. The information you provide will be used to better understand who uses Bluebikes and how riders pay for their travel.
The survey asks about your most recent Bluebikes trip, how you pay for Bluebikes, and some demographic information. It will not ask for personally identifiable information, and survey data will only be published at an aggregate level. Individual responses will only be shared with the study team and CPTS staff. The survey will take about five minutes to complete.
Please click here to take the survey, or copy and paste this URL into your internet browser: https://ctps.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_9zQy9brpQOtKNwy?Q_DL=fdk8dDAkvaVpu05_9zQy9brpQOtKNwy_CGC_pIEa412kKJtPhtm&Q_CHL=email
CPTS thanks you for taking the time to share your experiences.
Please only complete the survey one time.
Contact Emily Domanico to learn more about the study or if you have any questions.
October Haunted Bike Ride- Cancelled
October's haunted ride is cancelled for this weekend, and we weren't just spooked by the crowds at Head of the Charles. If you'd like to check out the most decorated street in Somerville, Ma, visit some well known Massachusetts residents at Mt Auburn Cemetery (be sure to walk your bike), or sample the eerily good offerings at Blackbird Donuts, check out this route BUCK manager PQ put together. Still need some bikes in your life this weekend? Come by the BUCK for popcorn and movies.
Stay dry and enjoy friends and family weekend. Check back soon, as we get the hang of posting more events here, and don't forget to put air in your tires!
Happy 10/19!
Our upstairs neighbors in the 1019 Dormitory are celebrating "10/19 Day" so we figured we'd join in by sharing this pic of 1019 Commonwealth Avenue back in the day when you could buy a Buick from what's now our office.
These days the same building is where you can get a parking permit for your Buick, an MBTA pass, info about the BU Shuttle, and bike maintenance help at the BUCK -- even better than a Buick if you ask us!
Coffee for Bike Commuters
For all you early birds, the BUCK opens at 7am every Thursday. For our night-owl staff, that's going to require coffee. Being polite people, they're willing to share.
So if you want to meet some fellow bike commuters while enjoying some FREE coffee, swing by Bike Commuter Coffee. And while you're there, maybe put some oil on that chain?

Tips for commuting during the MBTA shutdown (8/19 – 9-18)
The upcoming shutdowns on the MBTA Orange and Green Lines between 8/19 and 9/18 are likely to severely impact Boston-area commuters — even those who do not use the MBTA.
Here are a few things to know during the month-long shutdown:
- The MBTA’s “A Rider’s Guide to Planning Ahead” outlines what to expect, including alternate route options. Please review it carefully.
- Subway lines aren’t the only thing changing. Street traffic patterns may change in some areas in order to accommodate MBTA shuttle buses that will replace subway service.
- Assume that driving will take longer than usual. If you must drive, leave early and expect traffic congestion and fuller-than-usual parking facilities on campus. Avoid peak hours if possible.
- Some folks who usually take the T may find that Commuter Rail is a better option. Trips in Zone 1A, 1, and 2 will be “effectively free” during the shutdown.
- We’re here to help. Fill out a Personalized Commuting Assistance form and Parking & Transportation Services staff will respond with personalized recommendations for your commute.
- Don’t forget about the BU Shuttle. The 1BU line connects to two subway stops: Hynes Convention Center (Green B, C, D) and Massachusetts Ave (Orange Line, which will be served by shuttles during the shutdown). Note: masks are required on the shuttle.
- Now is a good time to try out Bluebikes — our local bike share system. The City of Boston is providing FREE 30-day Bluebikes memberships. For help planning a Bluebikes commute, just fill out a Personalized Commuting Assistance form.
Transportation Services has a new website (and name!)
The office that began as "BU Parking Services" is now "BU Transportation Services" after a few years being known as "Parking & Transportation Services." What's changed? Not much! We just have a name that better reflects the work we do: help the BU community to get around. We're here to help you with your transportation needs whether you're parking a car, parking a bike, riding the BU shuttle, or getting an MBTA pass.
