Frozen February
Well folks, it’s been so cold, I’ve had absolute brainfreeze and forgot to publish anything sooner! January’s return to campus brought us some record snowfall and chilling temps, as well as frustrating, unplowed bike lanes and sloppy narrow roadways and sidewalks.
Despite the mercury, we’ve been getting out there! We’re seeing plenty of friends coming in to keep their tires inflated, and chains cleaned and lubricated. If you’re out there and haven’t done so yet, come on by, we’ll be thrilled to see you. Especially since it’s much easier to get to the BUCK since last week!!
Huge thanks to the Urbanism Club, Boston Cafe Bikers, Boston Cyclist Union, and friends for helping clear the protected lanes on Comm adjacent to BUCK and spurring the clearance of most the protected bike lanes! It was great to see BUCK stickers at the Alex Pretti Unity Ride on Jan 31, even in those freezing temps, y’all showed up with riders around the country and around the world. Then, Saturday the 7th, in swirling snow, you were back at it with us, and with our friends CommonWheels, to take a peek at brand new bicycling infrastructure installed in Boston and Cambridge during 2026. Everyone demonstrated excellent handling in the blowy, slushy conditions, and it was an excellent reminder to all of us just how important protected, separated facilities are to our comfort on the road. And big ups to the plows we saw out there, keeping our lanes clear.

For faculty and staff, if you’ve submitted your eligibility for bike benefits, we’re now accepting receipts. Thanks for your patience as things were a bit bumpy this year. You have until March 31st to submit your paperwork.
And we’ve got a few more events lined up for February:
