English Proficiency
To be enrolled in summer courses, you need to show evidence of proficiency in English. Please work with the international office at your home university or your advising agent to present them with evidence of proficiency that meets the required levels listed below.
- 84 on the internet-based TOEFL (iBT), or 4.5 within the new scoring system taking effect January 2026
- 7 on the International English Language Testing System (IELTS)
- Minimum of 115 on the Duolingo English Test
An exception is made for students whose native language is English or who attend institutions where English is the primary language of instruction.

Please note: students who wish to enroll in Metropolitan College Administrative Sciences graduate courses should contact the Summer Term office regarding specific requirements for those courses.
