Course Additions, Drops, & Withdrawals
Adding, changing, & dropping courses
Students often need to adjust their schedules by adding, changing, or dropping courses. Students registered in Summer Term courses may adjust their schedule on the Student Link until the add/drop deadline for their particular course. No registration changes are possible once the add/drop deadline has passed.
You may also adjust your schedule until the add/drop deadline by completing a Summer Add/Drop form. Mail, email, fax, or walk-in your completed Add/Drop Form to:
Boston University Summer Term
755 Commonwealth Avenue, Room 105
Boston, MA 02215
Phone: 617-353-5124
Fax: 617-353-5532
Email: summer@bu.edu
Some instructors do not allow students to join their course once it has begun. It is recommended that you register for and attend summer classes by their first meeting date. During add/drop week, if you want to add a course after it has started, you should first contact the instructor to receive permission to add.
Please note: If you are a visiting international student attending Summer Term on a Boston University Summer I-20, please contact sumintl@bu.edu in order to adjust your schedule until the add/drop deadline.
Withdrawal deadlines
Absence from class or non-payment does not constitute an official withdrawal or dropped course. If your plans change and you are unable to attend a course for which you have registered, you must officially drop/withdraw from the class. Failure to do so within the add/drop deadlines for that course will result in your being held responsible for all tuition and fees associated with the course(s) in question.
Students can drop/withdraw from summer courses on the Student Link until the add/drop deadline. You can also complete a Summer Add/Drop form. and mail, email, fax, or deliver the form to:
