Professor Receives Education Innovation Award.
Megan Healey, clinical assistant professor of epidemiology, was presented the School of Public Health Educational Innovation Award at the John McCahan Medical Campus Education Day on May 31.
The award recognizes creative contributions to the development of tools for the innovative presentation of coursework, new curriculum design, and the creation of an improved teaching and learning environment.
“Megan’s collaborators are consistently impressed with her creative efforts to develop and redesign course materials with a focus on clarity and engagement across multiple learning styles,” said Lisa Sullivan, associate dean for education, while presenting the award.
“We are so fortunate to have Megan as part of our teaching community here at SPH, and she is highly deserving of this recognition.”
Healey has received several SPH Excellence in Teaching Awards and serves as co-director of the new MPH Certificate in Epidemiology and Biostatistics. Trained as a molecular epidemiologist with expertise in epigenetics and breast cancer, she currently teaches Quantitative Methods for Public Health, Introduction to Epidemiology, Intermediate Epidemiology, and Nutritional Epidemiology.
“It is an honor to be recognized for educational innovation within a community that is highly creative and dedicated to improving best practices,” Healey says. “Awards like this support our collective efforts to take risks in the classroom and help to elevate the school’s educational mission.”
