Overview
Research is the systematic and organized process of gathering and interpreting data or information in order to gain knowledge and answer questions (hypothesis). It involves conducting experiments, surveys, interviews, and observation to analyze data and draw conclusions. Research provides evidence based solutions to problems, guides decision-making and leads to the development of new technologies, medicines and products. It is an essential tool in understanding and improving the world around us.
There are several types of research. Boston University School of Public Health candidates tend to focus their careers around, including qualitative, quantitative, longitudinal or case study research.

Salary Expectations
- Experience plays a major role in determining salary for these positions. It is also based on sector, location, and internal equity. For example, salary ranges for industries like CROs, Pharma, and Biotech are often quite different from academic institutions (hospitals, universities) and nonprofits.
