The BU Hub is Boston University’s general education program. Each semester, students work with their academic advisor to plan their schedules, including Hub requirements.

Degree Requirements

To enter the Junior Year:

  • Earn a minimum GPA of 2.0.
  • Meet Gateway Criteria: A minimum grade of C+ (2.3) or better in each of the following four courses, CAS BI 107, CAS BI 108, CAS CH 171, CAS CH 174.
  • Gateway courses completed outside of Boston University must be reviewed and approved for course equivalency.
  • Complete all required first- and sophomore-year courses.

To enter the Senior Year:

  • Earn a minimum GPA of 2.0.
  • Complete all required junior-year courses.

To graduate with the Bachelor of Science in Nutrition degree 

  • Complete a minimum of 128 credit hours. 
  • Receive no more than 16 credits of D. 
  • Earn a minimum GPA of 2.0. Remediation: A student may repeat a course only once to meet the requirement. If courses are repeated, both grades are used to calculate the GPA. 
  • Complete all required courses, including BU Hub requirements. 
  • The maximum time to degree completion is seven years from the date of matriculation.

To obtain an ACEND DPD Verification Statement:  

  • Students must meet all BS in Nutrition degree requirements. 
  • Students must successfully complete all  required KRDN activities  associated with the DPD as described on course syllabi and the KRDN section of the student handbook. For assignments and activities that are tied to ACEND KRDNs, a grade of C or the equivalent is required.  Remediation: Students earning less than a C will be required to complete a faculty-identified remediation until competence is demonstrated in this area.  In such cases, the original grade the student earned will be used to determine the course grade.
