Academic Opportunities

In addition to your courses the Pardee School offers many exciting academic opportunities that will broaden your perspective on the world, connect you with faculty, deepen your knowledge, and teach you the skills you will need in the future. Funding is available, through the Pardee School and other BU resources, to support these opportunities.  

Keylor Travel Grant

The Professor William R. Keylor Travel Grant Program is the flagship opportunity for institutionally supported undergraduate student research.  Funds awarded can be used for research trips or conference attendance. Study Abroad

Pardee students are encouraged to study abroad and to support students the Pardee School has pre-approved many courses on BU Study Abroad and Exchange programs for functional and regional track credit. See the Study Abroad for Pardee Students page for more information.

Pardee School Honors Program

The Pardee School Honors Program is a two-semester intensive research project conducted during the senior year under the guidance of a faculty advisor, culminating in a thesis paper and oral defense before a faculty panel at the end of the research year.  Upon successful completion of the program students receive 8 academic credits, which may be applied to the major, for example for IR majors to either their functional and/or regional tracks. Successful students graduate with Honors from the Pardee School, the highest level of academic achievement for undergraduates.  More information is available in the  Honors Program Guide.

Bachelor of Arts in International Relations/Master of Arts in International Affairs (BA/MAIA)

The BA/MAIA program allows International Relations majors to graduate with a professional MA in International Affairs in addition to their BA in International Relations, with only one additional year of course work.

Scholarships and Fellowships

Pardee students are encouraged to apply for scholarships and fellowships to support study abroad, graduate school, and academic research. More information is available on the BU Fellowships & Scholarships website.
