The role of the Dean’s Ambassador is to represent the Pardee School’s Dean and the School at special events as well as with alumni and distinguished guests. They serve as a liaison to the wider Boston University community as well as prospective students and families.
Dean’s Ambassadors are outstanding student citizens and leaders from the Pardee School’s graduate and undergraduate academic programs. They are passionate and knowledgeable about the Pardee School and all things BU.
Our Dean’s Ambassadors are selected via a rigorous multi-stage competitive process open to all graduate and undergraduate students at the School. The process includes a formal application and interviews held each spring semester. Dean’s Ambassadors are appointed for a term of one academic year. Dean’s Ambassador Application Timeline: The 2023-24 Dean’s Ambassador application will be made available in February 2023. For Students applying as first-time Dean’s Ambassadors, the application includes a cover letter and resume. Your cover letter should be addressed to the Pardee School Dean and should explain your interest in the role as described in the position description. Faizaan is focusing in diplomacy and international negotiations as well as humanitarian crises and public policy analysis. His goals as a Dean’s Ambassador are to serve and give back to the Pardee community, making each student’s experience the best it can possibly be.Faizaan Firoz (BA IR '25)
Lilian is fascinated by how much of an impact the security sector has on our day to day lives, and how it contributes to our overall safety. Following the completion of her Masters, she plans on attending law school and specializing in either corporate or entertainment law. She has just completed her tenure on the executive board of the BU Women in Law club, as well as having several articles published in the school’s Pre-Law review. As a Dean’s Ambassador, she hopes to work with students to teach them about how incredible this program is, especially for those considering the dual degree route!Lilian Kogan (BA/MA IR '24)
Amy is a sophomore from Kansas City, Missouri, studying international relations with a minor in history. Her specializations are Europe and Foreign Policy and Security Studies. Her interests include national security, defense strategy, and arms control. As a Dean’s Ambassador, she hopes to play a role in maintaining Pardee’s status a premier school for global studies and share her passion with other interested students. She is also involved in Delta Phi Epsilon, a foreign service academic fraternity, and the International Relations Review, where she serves as the Senior Editor for the Former Soviet Union Section.Amy Graham (BA IR '25)
Pragya is focusing on global economic affairs, as she wants to pursue a career highlighting how the Global North-South divide impacts struggling nations, impairing their economic development, and impacting their citizens’ human right opportunities. The Pardee School has given her knowledge that goes beyond textbooks and has broadened her horizon to view the world through various lenses, which she finds essential for this field. Grace has focused her studies on history of international relations and regional/cultural politics aiming to broaden into security studies, with the goal of a career in international communication. On campus, she is a member of the foreign service fraternity Delta Phi Epsilon, a staffer at BarMUN XV/XVI and Social Media Director for BosMUN XXII. She is also a member of the Dance Theatre Group and a BU Admissions Ambassador. During her time as a Dean’s Ambassador, Grace seeks to develop community both within Pardee and for the school in the wider BU system through fresh events and a focus on fostering individual student growth.Grace Catlin (BA IR '26)
Originally from Bowie, Maryland, Joyce is a junior majoring in International Relations with a focus in International Systems and World Order and Asia while also minoring in Business Administration. As a junior, she has joined the BU International Affairs Association and serves as Director of Finance for BarMUN XVI. At BU, she is a senior scarlet speaker at BU Admissions, a member of BU’s community service sorority, Omega Phi Alpha, and serves as a Pardee Student Intern at the Pardee School Student Services. During her time as a Dean’s Ambassador, she hopes to enrich connections within the Pardee community and making Pardee a more welcoming place for students.Joyce Zhang (BA IR '25)
Amaury is a Master’s candidate in International Affairs. He specializes in Security Studies and is seeking to pursue a career in national security. When he is not studying, he can either be found training with the Reserve Officers’ Training Corps or with the Massachusetts National Guard. Before joining the US Army, he served in the French mountain troops. He has a Bachelor’s in International Relations from the University of Geneva and speaks French fluently.Amaury Heintz (MA IR '24)
Mia is a sophomore studying International Relations and also Russian, which she might turn into a minor. Mia is an active member of BUIAA, as the Under-Secretary General of ECOSOC Committees in BosMUN XXIII, a Chair in BarMUN XVI for the Assembly of Kosovo, and as an online writer for the Russia & FSU section of the International Relations Review. Mia is also a member of the Women’s Club Water Polo team (and helped lead her team to a regional Championship for the first time in BU history!). Mia is passionate about working with younger students, and hopes that she can build meaningful relationships and help students take advantage of all the opportunities and resources that Pardee and BU have to offer.Mia Knezevic (BA IR '26)
Mahitha is a MAIA student specializing in Diplomacy. She believes that the need for diplomacy is only increasing with global challenges and the best means to resolve the issues is through peace and cooperation. She would like to pursue her career in diplomacy and is also currently working as an Alumni coordinator for the Boston University Alumni Council. As a Dean’s Ambassador, she would like to foster inclusivity and diversity in the community, especially focusing on international students who live far from home. In addition to that, she also wants to bring awareness on alumni resources and connect current students with BU alumni for career advice and opportunities.Mahitha Owk (MA '24)
Neha has focused her studies on the intersection between International Relations and Economics and would like to pursue a career in non-profit management or international law. On campus, she is a part of the International Relations Review where she serves as the Podcast Director for In Relation. She is also a part of the Undergraduate Women in Economics club and a member of BU’s Mental Health Committee. Through the Pardee Dean’s Ambassador Program, Neha hopes to connect with other passionate individuals and create a sense of community within the school. Diana is very interested in international human rights, with a focus on forced migration and gender inequality. She hopes to continue her studies of Spanish, French and Farsi through international travel before going to law school and pursuing a career in international law and public policy.Diana Reno (BA IR '24)
Born and raised in the sunny island of Singapore, Natalie is a rising senior in the Pardee School. She has focused her studies on the intersections between gender, sexuality, fashion and politics and she is looking to work for women rights organizations or non-governmental organizations that focus on women’s right to healthcare, education and reproductive freedom. This academic year, she is serving on E-board as the Marketing Director of the Boston University International Affairs Association and is also a Resident Assistant of 10 Buick Street community. Outside of International Affairs, she is the Co-Creative Director for Off The Cuff Magazine and previously Charcoal Magazine. She hopes to eventually pursue an M.A in Law or Human Rights.Natalie Ng (BA IR '24)
Katie is a Middle East and North Africa Studies major with minors in global medieval studies, history, and political science, and would like to pursue a career in US foreign policy in the Middle East. She is very interested in Iranian studies in particular. She is currently an associate editor in the Africa section for the International Relations Review, and an opinion columnist for the Daily Free Press. Katie’s goals for her tenure as a Dean’s Ambassador are to connect with all Pardee Students, whether they be present, perspective, or alumni, and show them all Pardee has to offer, as Pardee has changed her life for the better. She would also like to work with transfer students from other colleges at BU into Pardee to make sure they are aware and have access to all the wonderful programs Pardee offers.Katie Harmon (BA IR '25)
Anthony transferred to Pardee in his sophomore year and is focused on security studies, diplomacy, and conflict resolution. He has interned with the U.S. Department of State in the Office of Western European Affairs and would like to pursue a career either with the State Department or with an adjacent organization. As a Dean’s Ambassador, Anthony hopes to help new and prospective students navigate the transfer process, the BA/MAIA program, and selecting internships.Anthony Blevans (BA/MA IR '24)
Olivia is a sophomore international relations major at Pardee, interested in the International Systems and World Order functional track, the Europe regional track, as well as an art history minor. She is a member of Delta Phi Epsilon, BU’s foreign service fraternity, as well as Gamma Phi Beta Sorority, and BU On Broadway. Trev is pursuing a dual degree in International Relations and Theatre in order to study the role of the arts in International Affairs specifically in the security world. Wentao’s academic interests are in intentional finance and monetary policy. He would love to pursue a career in advancing international finance and developing better monetary tools to mitigate global financial risk. He has been actively involved in the Boston University Consulting Club, Boston University Undergraduate Economics Association, BU Finance & Investment Club and BosMUN. His goal as a Dean’s Ambassador is to promote Pardee School’s vision to the rest of the BU community and beyond, while also fostering a greater sense of community amount Pardee students.Wentao Chen (BA IR '24)
Hala has focused her studies on regional politics and development in the African and Middle Eastern regions and would like to pursue a career in regional development and advocate for refugee rights through developments in technology. She has gained insight on the advancement of this goal by volunteering with local refugee organizations, studying international human rights law, and advocating for policy changes at the local and national levels. Outside of the classroom she is the Community Outreach Chair of the African Student Organization and the Events Chair of the Students of East African Descent organization. Nicole is a senior studying International Relations and Philosophy. She is interested in International Law and Sustainable Community Development. This year, she is the Vice-President of BU Undergraduate Women in Law and a Delta Phi Epsilon member. Yasmine has focused her studies on the Middle East and cultural anthropology, with a deep interest in understanding the region’s rich history, societies, and cultural dynamics. She is particularly passionate about exploring the intersections of culture, identity, and social change. Additionally, she has developed an interest in Latin America and is actively learning Spanish to expand her understanding of the region’s diverse cultures. Looking ahead, she plans to pursue law school with the aim of specializing in international law and advocating for social justice and human rights.Yasmine Vakili (BA IR '25)
Beaujena Stoyanchev is a returning Dean’s Ambassador, studying International Relations with a focus on Environment/Development and a regional concentration in Latin America, and additional minors in Spanish and Environmental Policy. She holds a passion for social and environmental justice that places Indigenous and rural communities at the forefront of proposed solutions. She hopes to move into the non-profit/NGO sector, carrying with her a passion for exploring how both policy shifts and grassroots organizing can help create sustainable change across global communities.
