Shifrinson Discusses Biden’s Strategy to Address Supply Chain with G-20

Joshua Shifrinson, Associate Professor of International Relations at the Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University, was interviewed for a CNBC article on the upcoming “Group of 20,” or G-20, meeting and President Joe Biden’s strategy entering the discussions.
The article, titled “Biden to discuss intensifying supply chain challenges with G-20 leaders,” discusses President Biden’s attendance at the annual G-20 forum where he is expected to discuss ways in which governments can alleviate pressure points in the global trading system. Following through on his promise the revitalize the United States’ global leadership role, President Biden aims to repair relationships abroad following the “America First” policy of his predecessor former President Donald Trump. In addressing the global supply chain issues – caused in part by increased consumer demand, high transportation expenses, labor shortages, overseas manufacturing delays, trade policies, and inflation – Shifrinson states that “Biden wants to use the G-20 to engage the leaders of some of the world’s most important states on addressing near-term economic challenges including supply-change disruptions and the ongoing effects of Covid.”
