Heine Participates in Webinar on ASEAN

On June 9, 2021, Ambassador Jorge Heine, Research Professor at the Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University, participated in a webinar hosted by Chile’s Pacific Foundation and the Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada, which discussed the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).

Featured panelists included Heine, Jeff Reeves, Vice President of Research and Strategy at the Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada in Vancouver, and Stéphanie Martel, Assistant Professor of Political Science at Queens University. During the webinar, titled “ASEAN and Geopolitics: Its Role as a Middle Path Approach to Asia,” the panelists delved into the ASEAN’s emerging presence on the global stage and the opportunities for engagement for Canada and Chile in particular.

Ambassador Jorge Heine is a Research Professor at the Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University. He has served as ambassador of Chile to China (2014-2017), to India (2003-2007) and to South Africa (1994-1999), and as a Cabinet Minister in the Chilean Government.
