Heine Keynotes Seminar on Chile-China Relations

On January 11, 2021, Ambassador Jorge Heine, Research Professor at the Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University, delivered the keynote address at a seminar on Chile-China relations hosted by the Institute of International Studies at the University of Chile.

The seminar was held to commemorate half a century of diplomatic relations between China and Chile. The aim of the seminar was to conduct an interdisciplinary analysis of the Chile-China relationship and promote mutual knowledge and understanding.

The event also provided the occasion to launch the book Chile-China Relations: A Comprehensive Approach, published by RIL in Santiago, in which Heine wrote the concluding chapter. The book takes a close look at the bonds between the two countries and the prospects for their political, economic and cultural ties, which contains the views of a dozen Chilean and Chinese scholars.
