Pardee School Faculty Research Seminars go Online
The faculty research seminar series at the Pardee School of Global Studies went online this week with Prof. Joshua Shifrinson’s seminar on “Suppression Strategies in International Politics,” which was held on April 6, 2020. Joshua Shifrinson, who is an Assistant Professor of International Relations at the Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University, talked to his colleagues about his emerging research on a potentially new book project on great power behavior.
Joshua Shifrinson‘s research interests focus on the intersection of international security and diplomatic history, particularly the rise and fall of great powers and the origins of grand strategy. The research he presented was on how established great power behave in terms of rising powers and the strategies deployed in containing that rise.
The Pardee School Research Seminar Series is a forum for faculty and students to discuss and receive feedback on ongoing research. The series is a mix of presentations, works-in-progress sessions, and research workshops. Faculty and students based at BU and elsewhere are invited to present and attend the Research Seminar Series. The series is managed and run by Prof. Mahesh Karra (mvkarra@bu.edu) and Prof. Jayita Sarkar (jsarkar@bu.edu).
The next event in the series will be a research presentation by Prof. Rachel Nolan on “Forced Adoptions as a Form of Political Violence, Guatemala 1982-1986.” It will be held online on Monday, April 13.
