Hare in VOA on Political Crises Across Latin America
Amb. Paul Webster Hare, Senior Lecturer at the Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University, was interviewed for a recent article on the ongoing political crises across Latin America including in Bolivia.
Amb. Hare was quoted in a November 13, 2019 article by VOA entitled “Bolivia: Senator Añez Acting President Morales Denounces ‘Coup.’“
Amb. Hare’s comments from the text of the article:
“Latin America has not ‘solved ‘ their most critical regional problem in decades – the exodus of 4 million Venezuelans causing major problems for their neighbors.”
“Cuba is most concerned to preserve the Revolution and their allies who can help with that are increasingly outside the region. Venezuela and Cuba will be exploiting current events in Chile, Ecuador, Peru etc to argue that social unrest is a response to the ugly face of capitalism.”
Amb. Paul Hare teaches classes at Boston University on Diplomatic Practice, Arms Control, Intercultural Communication and on Cuba in Transition. In Spring 2016 he will offer a new class on Public Diplomacy. His novel, “Moncada – A Cuban Story”, set in modern Cuba, was published in May 2010. His book “Making Diplomacy Work; Intelligent Innovation for the Modern World.’ was published in early 2015.
