Prof. Keylor on US Response to Ebola
As the global concern over possible spread of the Ebola virus increases and nations prepare to deal with it, Prof. William Keylor, who specializes in History and in International Relations at the Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University spoke to Fox25 TV news on the US reaction to the crisis (October 6, 2014).
Prof. Keylor reminded the TV news viewers that the last time the US had to confront an infectious disease threat of this type was right after the first world war and the threat of influenza. One of the key questions before the President, he said, was whether a serious travel ban should – or can – be imposed. For reasons of policy, politics and humanitarianism this will be a very difficult decision to make.
