MET Alum and Restauranteur Awarded Prestigious Recognition in Boston’s Inaugural Michelin Slate
For the first time, the Michelin Guide has included the city of Boston in its review of restaurants across America’s northeast, and one alum of Boston University’s Metropolitan College is among those to earn its rare prize.
Chompon “Boong” Boonnak (MET’13) is the proprietor of Mahaniyom, a Brookline, Mass. restaurant which specializes in Thai tapas. Mahaniyom was recently recognized with Michelin’s Bib Gourmand Award, which is conferred to deserving restaurants that serve high-quality food at worthy value. What’s more, Boonnak himself was granted the Exceptional Cocktails Award, which comes in recognition of “a mixologist whose creative and masterful drink creations have impressed inspectors.”
Before opening Mahaniyom and its sister bar, Merai, Boonnak earned his master’s in administrative studies with a concentration in financial economics at Boston University’s Metropolitan College. The BU MET community offers its most sincere congratulations to him and his team.
