Since its 1965 founding, Boston University’s Metropolitan College (BU MET) has remained vigilant about monitoring the trends and demands of industry and offering dynamic, cutting-edge programs that reflect them, taught by practicing professionals, and designed to give students every career advantage. Now, to help prepare students for the industrial landscape of tomorrow, BU MET’s Department of Administrative Sciences is proud to introduce a series of new programs in artificial intelligence, construction management, innovation and entrepreneurship, and sustainability that will continue the College’s decades-long legacy of innovation in higher education.

New Options for PM Construction Professionals

BU MET’s newest graduate program is Construction Management & Technology, available both as a master’s degree and a four-course graduate certificate, online and on campus.

Built to reflect a pair of major global trends, the digital transformation of a multi-trillion-dollar construction sector and the urgent need for tech-savvy project leaders, the eight-course MS in Construction Management & Technology (MSCMT) degree program is designed to help professionals across both building and infrastructure sectors develop the technical and leadership skills needed to succeed in construction project management. Students learn to lead complex projects in an era shaped by automation, big data, cyber-physical systems, and Industry 5.0 principles.

Whether they seek to manage smart buildings, highways, water systems, or energy grids, graduates will gain the skills to deliver projects that meet the highest standards of efficiency, resilience, and social impact. Courses in the program align with those of the Project Management Institute Construction Professional (PMI-CP)™ certification, an industry standard that positions students for career advancement in project, program, and portfolio management within construction and infrastructure sectors. Students in the program will also benefit greatly from site visits, executive mentorships, and a 40-hour rotation on an active building project through a capstone or practicum.

A Master’s Tailored for Innovative Entrepreneurs

BU MET will now offer online and on-campus graduate programs in Innovation & Entrepreneurship. As businesses face unprecedented pressure to innovate sustainably, scale responsibly, and adapt technologically in a globalized, digital-first economy, the eight-course MS in Innovation & Entrepreneurship (MSIE) provides the essential interdisciplinary tools to lead innovation with purpose, agility, and strategic impact—whether in the realm of startups, existing firms, or large multinational corporations.

Students in this program will get hands-on experience with venture development and data-driven decision-making, along with integrated training in venture finance and real-world industry analysis. With available degree concentrations in Strategy, Sustainability, and Technology, students will undertake an entrepreneurial learning journey—from ideation through customer discovery, prototyping, commercialization, and expansion—that nurtures the skills to transform complex ideas into scalable, finance-ready ventures across diverse industries.

Additionally, the four-course Graduate Certificate in Innovation & Entrepreneurship is designed to help professionals practice and learn the key managerial competencies required to facilitate the development of commercialized innovations. The graduate certificate program builds the entrepreneurial skills needed to effectively identify and respond to mission-oriented business challenges. And, if a student should decide to pursue the master’s degree, units earned in the four-course certificate program can be applied to its requirements.

New Concentrations Specialize Financial Degree in AI, Sustainability

BU MET is adding a pair of new concentrations to its highly esteemed MS in Financial Management (MSFM) degree options, which will now require eight courses. In addition to the previously available concentrations in International Finance and Investment Analysis, online and on-campus students may now specialize in Artificial Intelligence Applications or Sustainability. The Artificial Intelligence Applications concentration provides students with in-depth knowledge of the ways AI-driven financial modeling, data analytics, and machine learning techniques can be applied to finance. The MSFM with concentration in Sustainability concentration builds the skills needed to successfully integrate environmental, social, and governance (ESG) factors into financial decision-making. These cutting-edge new graduate degree concentrations, which can be pursued online or on campus, reflect the latest trends and priorities of the finance and investment fields.

Individually, these graduate programs offer the promise to enrich one’s prospects in a chosen field through expert preparation, practical insight, and a respected Boston University credential earned on a flexible timeline. Collectively, they represent Metropolitan College’s firm commitment to giving its students every chance to stand at the forefront of success through innovation and attentiveness to relevant trends. The BU Metropolitan College community is confident that these newest program offerings will boast numerous highly successful alumni before long.
