What motivated you to earn your master’s degree at this point? Why did you choose to fulfill your goal at Metropolitan College?
My grandfather encouraged me. I chose Metropolitan College because it had one of the highest ranked international programs, according to U.S. News. & World Report.

What do you find most fascinating about the discipline of global marketing management? Do you have a particular focus within the broader field?
To me, the most fascinating thing about global marketing management is the unique approach you have to take to each market, as well as how impactful on-the-ground research can be in determining a company’s success or failure.

How were you able to successfully balance your studies with your commitments outside the classroom?
I was able to by having a set and dedicated schedule, and by understanding managers and professors. I would read the chapter readings throughout the week, during my lunch breaks, and get a majority of my schoolwork done on Saturdays or Sundays.

Was your success in the program driven by a particular outcome—such as professional advancement, educational achievement, personal satisfaction, or something else?
It was a mixture of educational achievement and personal satisfaction. I have known for a long while that I’ve always wanted to do marketing on a global level, and completing this program with the GPA that I did is something I am proud of.

Is there a particular course or project that enhanced your experience in the Global Marketing Management program?
Applied Neuromarketing Research and Ethics (MET AD 619) was by far the most interesting class with the most impactful project. I did a study on the effectiveness of pop-up advertisements with the help of eye-tracking and facial software. Performing that experiment and learning about how to use neuromarketing technology, and all its benefits, was awesome.

Can you share any examples of skills, principles, or practices learned in the program that you are able to apply to your job?
I definitely improved my time-management skills. I also developed research skills in accurately testing and then correlating data. In fact, several of the projects I performed in class were things I used to benefit the company I work for, like doing an analysis on a marketing project that got approved in my Market and Economic Research and Analysis (MET AD 856) class.

What’s next for you? If you are changing roles, moving on to a new career, or receiving any kind of promotion, we would love to hear about it. Would you say that your program helped prepare you for the next phase of your life/career/education?
I am currently exploring opportunities that would get me in the door to global marketing. However, in the meantime, I am doing some freelance marketing work with local organizations in my area while I research whether or not I should open my own marketing firm.

What “words of advice” or encouragement would you like to pass along to students starting in the program?
If you can attend the live lectures, do it and participate. Class participation made it so much easier when it came to the assignments. Incremental work, five days a week with an additional day dedicated to getting everything else done, was a key to my success.

Is there anything else you would like to add?
This program was a challenging but rewarding experience. If you are willing to put in the work, you will learn more than you thought possible, thanks to the real-world application via your projects and the classmates you interact with. Personally, I found it very enlightening to work with several fellow students who worked all across the world, and managing the challenges that came with the time-zone differences.
