Sarah Maggipinto

ENG ’20 MD/PhD Student

I graduated from Boston University in May 2020 with a degree in Biomedical Engineering, a concentration in nanotechnology, and having completed the Kilachand Honors College program. I started working in July 2020 as a research technician for the Center for Engineering in Medicine and Surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. The research I was involved in was related to the preservation and perfusion of organs for transplant, and also involved work in xenotransplantation. During this time I volunteered at COVID-19 vaccination clinics as a member of the Boston Medical Reserve Corps. In August, 2022 I joined the Medical Scientist Training Program through the College of Medicine at the University of Illinois-Chicago, where I will complete a joint MD/PhD degree.
