By: Jane Hwang (SHA ’21)
Halloween festivities are just around the corner and we want you to have a fun and safe time! Whether if you’re staying on Commonwealth Ave. or heading into the city, remember these tips and tricks to help you stay safe through the night.
- Always check for and throw out any suspicious candy you receive from trick-or-treating. Remember to look for sharp or unusual objects mixed inside the candy.
- Never leave your alcohol unattended and don’t accept drinks from someone you don’t know.
- Don’t drink and drive. Don’t text and drive. Simple as that.
- As every holiday, there is a higher chance of intoxicated drivers being on the road. Therefore, make sure to look both ways before crossing the street. If you’re driving, stay alert of nearby vehicles driving odd.
- Living in Boston, a commuter city, intoxicated pedestrians can be a hazard as well. Pay attention to your surroundings and those close to you.
- All drivers should be on special alert while going through residential neighborhoods. Look for children close to your vehicle, especially while backing up!
- Avoid walking alone. Stick with a trusted friend or group.
- For extra safety, share your location to your friends.
- Don’t want to walk in the dark? Carry a flashlight to help you see your surroundings.
- In case of an emergency, dial 911 or call the BU Police at (617) 353-2121.
