It all starts with an idea. In the spirit of Experience Innovation, The Boston University School of Hospitality Administration’s $100k Poyiadjis Hospitality Innovation Competition offers Boston University students an opportunity to pitch ideas for new ventures within the hospitality industry that embrace innovative ways to solve problems and create value for all stakeholders. 

Discover the vast tapestry of hospitality, extending far beyond dining and hotels to encompass real estate, sports and entertainment, senior living, events, and more. At its core, hospitality seeks to forge meaningful connections in every human interaction. The competition encourages students to develop a deep understanding of the real-world challenges faced by the hospitality industry and create solutions for them. Competing teams can apply with just an idea and will then work with advisors and mentors to further refine their ideas during their time in the competition. 

In its second year, the Competition aims to help students kick-start their innovative ideas and transform them into real ventures with cash prizes totaling $100,000 for the top three teams in the following categories.  

Open TrackThis track welcomes all innovative ideas within the hospitality industry, including both for-profit and social-impact ventures. All teams are encouraged to apply in the Open Track.
Social Impact TrackThis track is tailored for ideas and ventures that aim to create a positive economic, social, cultural, or environmental difference within the hospitality industry.
Student Wellbeing TrackThis track is open to innovative ideas or initiatives that promote the social, physical, emotional, or professional wellbeing of students at Boston University. In partnership with Student Wellbeing at Boston University.
SHA PrizeThis prize is structured to foster participation amongst SHA students. This prize is only open to freshmen, sophomores, and juniors at the Boston University School of Hospitality Administration. A majority of students in the team must be full-time students majoring at SHA. Participating in the Open Track or Social Impact Track automatically enters teams into this opportunity, highlighting the top three SHA contenders who did not win in other categories.

In addition to the very attractive prize money for the top three teams in each category, all participants will benefit from a multi-dimensional learning experience through a combination of group classes, one-on-one mentoring, and access to experienced advisors and investors, helping teams further their business ideas and create a better future for the next generation of hospitality.
