Samuel Isaacson’s research interests are in the areas of numerical analysis, mathematical biology, and mathematical physics, with an emphasis on the development and the numerical analysis of methods for studying problems in molecular cell biology. He is especially interested in the numerical analysis of schemes for solving systems of partial differential, ordinary differential, and integral equations. Recently, his research has focused on the development, analysis, numerical approximation, and applications of stochastic as well as deterministic reaction-diffusion methods appropriate for modeling biochemical systems at the scale of a single biological cell.
Areas of interest: numerical analysis, mathematical biology, and chemical physics, including particle-based stochastic reaction-diffusion models, jump process simulation methods, and modeling of immunological and cellular signaling networks.
