Kimberly Crespo (she/her/ella) is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences at Boston University. She is also affiliate faculty in Wheelock College of Education & Human Development’s Institute for Early Childhood Well-Being. Dr. Crespo earned her PhD in Communication Sciences and Disorders and her MS in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. At Boston University, she directs the Bilingual Learning Lab, where her research focuses on the interplay between input factors (i.e., dual language exposure), cognitive factors (i.e., attention and memory), and language ability. Her research includes monolingual and bilingual children and adults with typical and atypical language abilities from various cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. Using a variety of experimental methods, her work aims to elucidate how child-environment interactions influence language acquisition. She also seeks to better understand the developmental trajectory of language impairment in bilingual children.
