Kate Mays

Graduate Student Fellow, Emerging Media Studies, COM

Kate Mays was chosen as a Hariri Graduate Fellow in June, 2017. She is a doctoral student in Emerging Media Studies at Boston University’s College of Communication, where she also received her Masters. Her dissertation research examines the effects of technological affordances on social relationships, with a specific focus on mobile dating applications. She has also conducted research in political communication, looking at the agenda-setting and democratizing effects of old and new media in the digital environment. Prior to BU, Kate worked in academic publishing at the Association of American Medical Colleges in Washington, D.C. and holds a B.A. from Georgetown University.
