Jianing Wang is a second year Ph.D. student in Department of Biostatistics at Boston University. She received MS degree in Statistical Practice at BU. Her research is in areas of statistical methods developing for surveillance and monitoring of substance use misuse, and mathematical modeling applied to opioid epidemic, as well as infection and transmission of infectious diseases. Under the supervision of Prof. Laura White at Department of Biostatistics, she is working on the development of statistical and computational approaches to better understand the dynamic of the target population and dependences of datasets using national and state level administrative databases. As a member of HEALing Communities Study program, she is also working on the investigation of linkage and coverage errors in large surveillance data, and the algorithm development to reduce the detection bias and misclassifications of opioid drug misuse which is in the absence of a gold standard diagnostic.
