Jack Vincent is currently a Ph.D. candidate in the BME department. He is interested in uncovering the principles of hierarchical motor control through combined optogenetic, electrophysiological, and genetic interrogation of higher order motor centers and brainstem pattern generators. As a graduate student in Dr. Michael Economo’s lab, he is currently working to develop novel spike sorting quality metrics through simulation of spiking neural networks, optically tag descending inputs to premotor centers during electrophysiological recordings, and map brainstem cell types involved in stereotyped orofacial behavior.
