Kate Mays, M.A. is a doctoral candidate in Emerging Media Studies at
Boston University’s College of Communication, where she also received
her Masters. Her dissertation research examines the social perceptions of
robots and AI in everyday life. She has also conducted research on
emerging media in journalism and political communication, looking at
the agenda-setting and democratizing effects of old and new media in
the digital environment. Her co-edited volume “Journalism and Truth in
an Age of Social Media” was recently published by Oxford University
Press. Prior to BU, Kate worked in academic publishing at the
Association of American Medical Colleges in Washington, D.C. and holds
a B.A. from Georgetown University.
