Students Showcase their Projects at the Spring 2019 Poster Sessions
Last week, students from Andrei Lapets’ Data Mechanics and Emily Whiting’s Computational Fabrication classes showcased their Spring Semester projects at the Hariri Institute for Computing during Poster Sessions. Posters sessions are held at the conclusion of each semester as an opportunity for students to share their work with other classmates, faculty and industry communities. This Spring, over 60 students presented their projects.
Posters for Data Mechanics (Andrei Lapets)
Students in this class examined how data moves and informs decisions within large systems. They applied mathematically rigorous tools and methods for data collection, retrieval, integration, and interpretation. Projects that students shared ranged from “Boston Housing Price Analysis” to “Commuting and Weather in Boston” to “Uber Pick Up in NYC.”
Posters for Computational Fabrication (Emily Whiting)
In this class, students were introduced to 3D printing technology and computational methods for creating physical prototypes from geometric models. Student-led paper presentations cover research from prominent Computer Graphics and Human Computer Interaction conferences. Final projects for these students included not only a poster outlining their projects, but also working prototypes using 3D printing technologies. For example, students showcased a “3D Printed Carousel” amongst many other fascinating projects.
