The Boston University Institute for Health System Innovation & Policy (IHSIP) and the Questrom School of Business present a day of discussion on the future of health and health care with support from IBM Watson Health. The Hariri Institute is excited to support the fall conference through the join initiative with IHSIP, the Digital Health Initiative.
The Forces Shaping the Future of Health & Health Care conference will consist of three sessions, including an opening session with futurist Jonathan Peck from the Institute for Alternative Futures. Peck will lead the discussion of a panel featuring Kevin Outterson, Renee N. Salas and Wilson W. Wong. The scholars will discuss factors that affect health and health care in America such as new technologies, economic and population factors and climate change.
Building on the earlier session, N. Venkat Venkatraman, author of the Digital Matrix, will be reviewing his industry analysis, engaging panelists from IBM Watson Health, Aetna, and other leading companies. They will discuss moves being made by the digital giants, responses by incumbents and the role of tech entrepreneurs in disrupting the status quo.
The concluding session, featuring Nick Dougherty, Program Director of PULSE@MassChallenge, Steven Strongwater, President and CEO of Atrius Health and Kate Walsh, President and CEO of the Boston Medical Center (BMC) health system, will elaborate on what needs to change in professional development, pedagogy and educational strategy in order to produce a more effective health care work force.
