Enabling Data Science for Medicine

SPRING 2017 RESEARCH INCUBATION AWARDEES

Pl: Gerald Denis, Medicine, MED

This project aims to bridge the gap between available medical data and the regressive infrastructure of clinical data sharing. After analyzing datasets held by researchers at BU’s School of Medicine, the team will establish a common format for clinical data. This will require close examination of the data in order to develop software that’s sophisticated enough to understand and interpret the information. In order to use this data, the team will develop a policy language to allow data owners the ability to prescribe how fellow researchers may use their data. With these two components, researchers will develop a robust software tool that will be made available to the BU community via a platform for sharing data and computation such as the Mass Open Cloud (MOC).

This work is funded by a Digital Health Initiative Research Award made in June, 2017.
