Please join us for a Lunch & Learn, hosted by JuanRamón Acosta, Principal Cloud Software Architect, Cisco Systems. The Industry Scholars Lunch & Learn is designed for BU PhD students and postdocs. Each speaker addresses a specific research area from the industrial perspective and also takes time to share his/her own personal journey from academia into industry. The event is co-sponsored by the Hariri Institute for Computing and BU Corporate Relations.

During his presentation, Juan will focus on Cisco’s current Innovation proposal in the field of Network Function Virtualization and how Cisco incorporates Agile as a core tool to develop innovative new products. He will address the application of his academic training in various roles within Cisco; moving products forward from early stage problem definition, to gaining internal sponsorship of a solution to eventual engineering implementation.

About the Speaker: JuanRamón Acosta is a PhD candidate and earned his Masters of Science in Computer Systems Engineering at Boston University. Juan’s interests are in Cloud Native Computing, Software Defined Networking and Network Function Virtualization and Reliability. He serves as a judge and participates on the Cisco Innovation Challenge and is an Innovator at Cisco’s Innovation Hub.

Leon Zachery, Senior Manager, will accompany Juan and provide insight into Cisco’s involvement in the Massachusetts Open Cloud.
