The Data Science Initiative at the Hariri Institute for Computing is proud to announce the inaugural BU Data Science (BUDS) Day to take place on Friday, January 22nd 2016.   Featuring talks from researchers across BU — from social sciences, humanities, law,  business and medicine — to engineering, computer science, and statistics – BUDS Day aims to spearhead a greater understanding of data science as well as forge interdisciplinary connections and future research collaborations on this important topic.

Format:  Ten-minute lightening talks will each overview research in areas that intersect with data science and focused to interest a broad audience.

Audience:  All faculty and students with interests in data science (those who build, analyze, or utilize statistical and computational tools to collect, curate, store, transfer, analyze, or visualize various types of data in their research) are invited to attend!

Attendee Registration: Please register your interest to attend here (even if currently tentative), so that we may plan for food, etc.

Student Poster Session:  Student submissions and corresponding faculty nominations are being requested to present research at BUDS Day. Deadline to submit is Monday December 14, 2015.  Upon review by the organizing committee, students will be notified by Tuesday January 5, 2016 if their project has been selected for inclusion; all students with accepted posters will receive recognition.
