Bestavros to Serve on Massachusetts Big Data Advisory Committee

Azer Bestavros, Professor of Computer Science and Founding Director of the Hariri Institute for Computing, has been selected to join the Massachusetts Big Data Advisory Committee that will help improve the ability of academia, government and industry of open data. The small committee was chosen from a diverse group of leaders in technology and big data and aims to address opportunities to enhance the “open data ecosystem” in Massachusetts. This will contribute to the state’s efforts to increase public awareness of the region’s big data capabilities, foster development of the advanced big data workforce, and accelerate innovation and company growth through collaboration.

Partnered with MassTech, the Mass Big Data Advisory Committee will help inform and support open data work and the Mass Big Data Initiative. These efforts will serve as a catalyst to organize and engage stakeholders across each of these dimensions in the big data ecosystem.
