Construction Underway for Institute’s First Home

Construction of a first home for the Institute is under way on the East-side of the MCS building at 111 Cummington Street, at the crossroads of the cognate units and departments along the Cummington corridor, including Mathematics and Statistics, Computer Science, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Bioinformatics, Center for Computational Science, among others.

The Institute’s first home, which is slated to open in early Fall, will accommodate up to 20 researchers and will provide Institute affiliates with much-needed “think space” as well as a large 60-seat seminar room, equipped for remote telepresence. This temporary space will provide a minimal footprint for the Institute until a prominent permanent home in a landmark facility is available on campus, not only to support the Institute’s mission, but also to showcase quantitative and computational research and education at Boston University.
