ENG Researcher Helps Launch New Clean Energy Tools

Associate Professor Emily Ryan (ME, MSE) is part of a convergent research across Boston University. Ryan collaborated with BU faculty to design tools meant to enhance collaboration between state and local officials in Massachusetts, show progress toward clean energy goals, and help leaders identify communities that may need additional resources.

Emily RyanThe work was developed through the $5.7 million Clean Energy and Environment Legacy Transition (CELT) Initiative, a partnership between BU’s Institute for Global Sustainability (IGS), the University of Massachusetts Lowell’s Rist Institute for Sustainability and Energy, and the Healey-Driscoll Administration. The initiative, which aims to accelerate an equitable clean energy transition in Massachusetts, unifies public resources and academic research expertise for climate resilience and workforce development.

The clean energy transition can directly benefit communities, through lowering energy bills for residents, creating new jobs, reducing strain on the electric grid, and improving air quality. We are proud to support the state’s efforts to bring these benefits to people across Massachusetts in an equitable way.”
