Hands-On Engineering

In the course Smart and Connected Systems, taught by Professor Thomas Little (ECE, SE), students get the chance to learn topics in cyber-physical and IoT systems and then put those concepts into practice by developing and debugging small-scale connected microcontroller systems. Above, Yangyang Zhang (ENG’24) and Kai Imery (ENG’24) work on an object-detecting autonomous vehicle they co-designed. For the assignment, Zhang, Imery and two teammates had to design the vehicle to not only run, but also meet specific parameters.

BU Today photographer Cydney Scott visited Little’s class and captured this moment for “Close-Up,” a series of snapshots from around campus.
