Los Angeles
Advertising and Public Relations, Graduate and Undergraduate: Los Angeles offers opportunities found nowhere else in the United States. For students interested in any sort of media experience, LA is the place to be. Academics and practical experience are intertwined; instructors work in the industry, and we connect students to the vast BU in LA alumni network. Students learn about marketing techniques, media and consumer behavior while working in the marketing or PR departments of multinational firms, advertising and public relations agencies. For this program, students receive support from our LA program staff during their independent internship search. Graduate Fall/Spring or Summer; Undergraduate Fall/Spring or Summer.
Entertainment Management: Los Angeles offers opportunities found nowhere else in the United States. For students interested in any sort of media experience, LA is the place to be. Academics and practical experience are intertwined: instructors work in the industry, and we connect students to the vast BU in LA alumni network. Students learn about the current economic, political, and social issues affecting the entertainment industry. Internships can range from working in the finance department of a production company to a sports network to talent representation. For this program, students receive support from our LA program staff during their independent internship search. Spring.

Washington, D.C.
Advertising, Marketing and Public Relations: Offers students the opportunity to spend 10 weeks studying and interning in one of the world’s most important capital cities. Although known primarily as the capital city of American politics, Washington, D.C., plays a pivotal role, both nationally and internationally, in business, law, the sciences, media, and the arts. The program offers students the opportunity to focus on leadership, public policy, and agenda setting in their own area of interest. Students enroll in one course and participate in a professional internship. For this program, students receive support from our D.C. program staff during their independent internship search. Fall/Spring or Summer.
Journalism: Offers students the opportunity to spend 10 weeks studying and interning in one of the world’s most important capital cities. Multimedia & Journalism: Offers graduate and undergraduate students an exciting semester in the nation’s capital. In addition to an internship in Journalism with an accompanying internship course, students can opt to take a course on Government & the Media or Reporting in Depth at the BU Washington, D.C. Academic Center. The Washington Program makes a concerted effort to bring COM alums together with students; students will meet and connect with newsmakers, editors, bureau chiefs, reporters, multimedia designers, and PR practitioners. For this program, students receive support from our D.C. program staff during their independent internship search. Fall/Spring.
London, United Kingdom
Advertising, Marketing and Public Relations: Offers 8 weeks of study and work through academic internships that complement a student’s academic concentration. In the first four weeks, students will examine marketing concepts, tools and frameworks underlying consumer marketing strategies in the context of Great Britain’s history and culture, and its role within Europe. In the last four weeks, students work full time four days a week in their internships and participate in an internship course. Summer.

Students spend 11 weeks studying global marketing communication and mass media while participating in a full-time internship. The first five weeks are spent taking two core courses. In the last six weeks, students work full time in their internships and complete a research project or thesis. All courses are offered at the graduate level and students take classes at the centrally located BU London Academic Center. Summer.

Travel Writing: Offers students the opportunity to produce travel writing across various forms of the genre while interning in the field. The program is structured around local day trips where students will gather a research portfolio for articles and written pieces while undertaking an online blog. An internship placement in journalism complements the academic course. Summer.

Film Festival: Offers students the opportunity to spend eight weeks studying contemporary film in a vibrant cosmopolitan city. Scheduled to coincide with the annual Sydney Film Festival, this is a unique program with coursework that examines Australian film and filmmaking. Summer.
Padua, Italy
Advertising, Marketing and Public Relations: BU’s Padua programs take place in a lively town that’s home to one of the oldest universities in the world. The Padua Internship Program, offered only in fall terms and designed for those with all levels of Italian language skills, provides students with the opportunity to develop their professional skills in one of Italy’s top economic and communications hubs. Classes are taught at the BU Padua Center, where students take elective courses in English or Italian and participate in an academic internship. Fall.
Crisis and Conflict Reporting: Journalists and documentary filmmakers have an important role in upholding democracy, uncovering corruption, and reporting the truth, which often means going to areas of conflict. The Padua Conflict & Crisis Reporting program will prepare students to begin covering conflicts, crisis and hostile environments smartly, ethically and with greater safety. Based at BU’s Padua Academic Center, the program will take advantage of unique opportunities in Padua including engagement with the IMP Festival (International Month of Photojournalism). Students will participate in hands-on activities and learn from expert guest lecturers. Padua Conflict & Crisis Reporting program is a 4-week, one course program. Students will earn 4 BU units. The course will be taught in English. Summer.
Prague, Czech Republic
Advertising, Marketing and Public Relations: The Prague Internship Program offers students both an internship placement and an academic learning experience in one of central Europe’s centers of commerce, communications, industry, finance, and media. The program runs for approximately eight weeks, and includes a variety of opportunities to explore Prague’s rich history and its vibrant present. Summer.
