Aaron Worth Publishes Short Stories in Cemetery Dance and Aliterate
CGS Associate Professor of Rhetoric Aaron Worth has published a short story in the December issue of Cemetery Dance, the World Fantasy Award-winning magazine for horror, dark mystery, and suspense. The magazine has published prominent authors such as Stephen King, Dean Koontz, and Charles Beaumont.
Worth’s research focuses on Victorian literature and culture, and his story, “The Translation of Aqbar,” is set in Victorian London. The title refers to a monstrous conjuring trick, performed by the infamous magician Ugolini, which two young boys have the misfortune to witness while hiding under a table in the parlor of their house.
Earlier this year, Worth also published a short story entitled “The Fold,” which appears in Aliterate (Volume 2). “The Fold” concerns an epidemic of origami-folding which spreads through an English public school– with appalling consequences. Aliterate is a biannual print journal dedicated to “literary genre fiction.” Worth will also publish a story in the inaugural issue of Vastarien, a literary journal associated with the work of horror writer Thomas Ligotti.
